Bringing Back the Oldies

So Sam and Steph reminded me of a painting today. One that I did in Art Fundamentals that I'm pretty proud of and would like to share with everyone here. It's a self portrait that we had to paint using three methods or theories that we learned in our colour theory class. I chose a triatic colour choice, primary colours, and chiaroscuro.

I really like how well it turned out. Throughout the years I've been trying to get a good grasp of chiaroscuro because one of my favourite artists, and influences, is Caravaggio. If you haven't heard of him, it will be worth your while to look up some of his works. Amazing.

I should probably add that this was painted traditionally with acrylic on paper.

The challenge

Clown done for the Halloween Challenge for school. I did the coloured one first then decided to see what it would look like in Black and White also.

Head and Hand

This was an assignment done for my digital class. The painting is supposed to have a head and a hand showing a single emotion. My emotion was sadness. I feel like I succeeded at showing the emotion but it looks like the sadness is there due to a very bad toothache. This is probably one of my fastest paintings as well. Done in about 2 and a half hours.

Character Design - early stages

So I decided to post the early stages of my character design. Nothing is finalized yet, but I'm liking where it's heading. I'm probably going to push further towards the one on the right. Opinions?

Megan Fox

So here's another caricature that I did for caricaturama showdown, also late. I went with a different approach to this one, trying to make her look more plastic. I also started off with a pencil sketch for this one rather than sticking to digital.

So I finally finished this. It was the challenge for Caricaturama Showdown, 2 weeks ago. It's a caricature of Harry Shearer. Use my new tablet pc. First complete painting I've done using it.
